Cosplay 30 - Day 23

rose_of_painFinally got around to watching Torchwood: Miracle Day episode 1 last night. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I was kinda laughing at how you can so tell its being done by an American team now and the differences between a British show and American show. I mean there's this OBVIOUS sudden increase of chase scenes and guns and explosions. Oh America. XD; But I do like it so far...but its just...not the same. I miss the old Torchwood team.
23. Your most expensive cosplay
Ciel Phantomhive - Kuroshitsuji
Its still my most expensive cosplay as it cost me a little over $200 in the end. And its mostly because of the top hat and the fabrics I used. And I know $200 probably isn't that much to a lot of you but I tend to be a bit more on the cheapy side with my cosplays. XD I'm always trying to find a way to get my materials for pretty cheap. I spend most of my money on the wigs and boots and such more than the actual materials usually. lol
Chopin was pretty high up there. Ranking somewhere in the $150-180 range. And Takuto is getting pretty close too, currently ranking around $177 (and I still need to get a few more things for it) and well Takuto probably WOULD be my most expensive one except that I managed to get a really good deal on the fabric ($11 for 5 yards of cotton sateen fuck yeah!) and I already have some vinyl I'm probably going to use for the boot covers (unless I decide it isn't good enough...which in case this probably will go over $200 after that)...
OH WAIT. I FORGOT TO ADD IN THE BOOTS in the cost! Oh Fuck! Hahaha! Wow. Ok, um, Takuto actually might have Ciel beat after all. O_O I just gotta think 'cause its mostly due to all I spent on the resin but I'm wondering if I should not count all the stuff that was failures and just include around the cost of what I actually used in the final product. So wow. Yeah, I guess Takuto probably is at least $200 too. XD DAYUM! ...and well it wouldn't have been if not for a certain prop I'm working on to go with it. >> If it turns out. If not I guess I'll subtract those expensives...for now. But if I ever make the plushie too than that will add in yet more to the cost.
I'm kinda in denial that this costume...which kinda came out of the blue and I originally didn't think I'd have time to make this summer...might be costing me MORE than Ciel. Pffffft.
Lucifer is also pretty high up in cost due to the wings but its hard to calculate him as I bought some of the stuff from the first Lucifer a million years ago and don't know if that should be counted or not since I already bought them (the wig and boots mainly). But the cost of the feathers alone was $120 and I'm planning to buy more and add on to what Corey made as I love the wings she did but I want them bigger and more obvious as they are kinda hard to see from the front.
So in conclusion I think my days of cheap cosplays are over. lmao Gone are the days when I made a costume for $20. But that was also back before I knew about the importance of fabric quality and kept using broadcloth for everything. XDXD It was mostly my Mom's doing 'cause she helped me in the beginning years and her thoughts was that its just a costume, don't want to spend much on it, just buy cheap fabric. lol So that was my thoughts for the longest time until I learned that using that fabric for the main costume is kinda frowned upon. ...oops. But hey at least it wasn't shiny satin? XD
