rose_of_pain | con debating

Oh boy. Well, I thought I had my con schedule for this year figured out but now I've got all these possible cons that people have suggested I go to and I don't know which ones I should go to. ^^;

I'm obviously still going to Katsucon. The only thing I'm not sure about is when and how I'm getting there. ^^; I don't really want to have my Dad be late to work just so he can drive me there. Especially since his office is in the completely opposite direction.

Then for the weekend of May 28-30 there's both Anime Mid-Atlantic in Richmond, VA and Animazement in North Carolina.

Well, the 28th is the last day of school for us seniors and unless they give us a half day or something, I won't be able to go to either of these until after school ends so might not get there until late night.

Both cons have their ups and downs.

Anime Mid-Atlantic:
Positive Aspects:
- MadHatter (she's being FILTH Kyo at Katsu) has offered her room to me
- It's a really cheap, small con
- drake, Ganesh, and co. are probably going
- Steph could probably go and maybe some of my other school friends
- kinda close (well, reasonably anyways)
Negative Aspects:
- Though I do know some people going, it's not that many right now
- It's a really small con and I might get bored
- Need a ride that could take me, Steph, and whoever else goes to the con after school
- Even though its technically closer than AZ, Richmond still takes forever to get to

Animazement:
Postive Aspects:
- Know quite a number of people going
- Asura has offered her room to me
- Though more expensive than AMA, still a reasonably priced con
- My group of school friends were considering going to NC anyways
- I can get out of the MD/VA area for onc
Negative Aspects:
- NEED A RIDE! That's what it comes down to. lol Can't go if I can't get a ride. ^^;
- It's farther away and a bit and costs more than AMA
- I'll probably arrive really late at the con because of school

Really, both depend on if I can get a ride or not. If I can't get a ride to either, then obviously I can't go to them. ^^;; I'd probably be only bringing 2, maybe 3 costumes to them as well since they're both small and not so sure how long I'll actually be at them.

And to make me even more indecisive, Herra is making it sound like we could actually attend A-Kon without having to kill our wallets. o_o I don't know about that one though. It's the day after graduation and well...its in Texas and I don't think my parents would be very happy about me going out to Texas right after graduation. I also wouldn't be able to go to AMA/AZ if I went to this one. Because they're just waaaay too close in time frames.

Then we have Otakon. Which is a definete. I even have a full cosplay schedule for it in the works. lol But I am NOT, I repeat, I AM NOT reserving a room this year. I'm going to leave that to someone else. ^^; I know enough people going that I won't have to worry about that, really.

Then we come to the last few months of 2004, with two more possible cons. Nekocon and AnimeUSA. I really do want to go to Nekocon this year but it all depends on when its going to be and whether I can convince a fellow con-goer at St. Mary's (with a car) to take me there. I'm sure that won't be too hard considering the people I know that are going to be going there. And I don't know about AnimeUSA. It all depends on who goes this year and how close it is to Nekocon.

So yeah, um, what cons do you guys think I should go to? lol I aiming for at least 4 this year. Since I'm pretty sure I can afford them and I want to explore some more options now that I'm old enough.

K, that does indeed make it a bit easier to decide. ^_^ I really would love to go to A-Kon so if you do figure a way that we can go, that would be cool. If not, there's always next year.

2) Otakon: If you want room space, you got room space.

^_^ If I can find a way to get to AZ, I will definently try to go. I have a friend that goes there that I really would love to finally meet in person.

Aw *pat pat*. Is Anime North any fun though? I usually was only able to go to 2 cons a year, Otakon and Katsucon, but thats because they're both rather close to me.

Anime North is pretty good. The dealer's room is always great, and there's a J-rock room. Last year a little band played some j-rock, and it was fun. ^_^ It's also in Toronto, so it gets lots of people, ne.

Isn't there another con in Toronto called Toronto Trek or something like that? I know that this one cosplayer named Kisa went to that, so thats how I know of it. lol

Yeah, there is~ My cousin goes to it, but she said it isn't as fun as AN. I can kind of believe that, it sounds like a complete Trekki convention XD

I always wanted to go to AZ, during both 2001 and 2002 I made plans to go but they never fell through. I think Yu Watase often attended that con too. I'd go for AZ if you can make it work out but ama is definately more convenient for us DC peeps.

I think fanime is that same weekend, so I'm sure there are going to be a lot of choices for everyone to pick from that will divide the crowd of people you see at any one of them. I already preregistered for fanime, but I can only go for like... two days in order to get back in time for school. At least it's one of those bizarro 4 day cons.

Ah, thanks for your advice. ^^ AZ does indeed sound rather good though they've got like barely anything up on there site as it is. ^^; Have you been to AMA before?

Yeah, Fanime is indeed the same weekend. So is that Pacific whatever con thing in CA as well. A lot of cons on the same weekend this year. o_o;

At least after the 28th, I don't have to worry about school. Just have to get back by June 3rd since thats graduation, lol.

And yes, I felt the icon was quite appropiate for this post. ^^;

Laura, being the excellent organizer that she is, got Danny's college age sister to come with us to katsu, so we can go yay ^^. but on Saturday and Sunday, not friday ;_;. remind me, isn't that the day you were doing the Cain group?

Yeah, I actually kinda had a similar thought to that but even if I did try to get my liscense, wouldn't have it in time for the majority of these cons and I won't have a car in college even if I do have a liscense by then. ^^;; Plus, I'm still terrified. x_x; But I usually find ways of getting to these cons. lol

Well...if you really want to go to Akon, I'm driving down after my graduation too. Which day do you graduate anyways? So yeah if you want to and ifs its not like the day before, I can take ya.

My graduation is the day before the con. I'll have to see how much money I'll have though as to whether I can go with you or not. Also, if I can go, any chance you could fit my friend Herra in the car too? Because I'd feel bad about going without her since she really wants to go even more than me.

Eep, I just realized the fact that my graduation is in fact the day before. ^^; And I'm assuming you would be leaving then since it'd take you almost an entire day to get there. So, so much for that. Thanks anyways. ^_^ Probably best if I didn't go (even though I really want to ;_;) since if I go to Animazement (which is looking good right now), going to another con right after it would totally kill me.

Ah...I'm leaving the 1st cause its my last day. Now that I think about it I might be missing graduation for this...but I don't really mind cause all I would do is be thinking to myself "fuck you, you stupid high school, I never have to come back bitches!!"

If you change your mind or something I can take ya. Its just that we want to be sure we get there early. We even have the hotel room reserved and everything.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can't go then because I really do want to attend my graduation and plus, if I go to Animazement, I don't really want to have to leave for another con right when I get back.

Bwa, I wanted to go last year too and couldn't. x_x Neverending record. By the time I can actually go, there like won't be any guests worth seeing there. >_>;

Um, another ride question, but now concerning Katsucon. Yeah I know...I really should just get off my lazy ass and work at getting my liscense (but I'm still scared of driving ;_;). What time are you guys leaving for the con on Friday? Any chance you might be able to pick me up on the way? I can get a ride home on Sunday, just I really don't want to bother my Dad for a ride there because that would mean he would be late to work and he's already taken off more days from work than he would like due to some problems with the house. If you can't, thats fine, I'll see if there are any other possibilities.

I should be able to get you. We're leaving at 7am, and hoping to be there asap. How close are you to DC? If its too out of the way I could come and get you Thursday night. Its up to you. IM me (death chocolates) and we'll figure this out, ok?

That would rock so much. But it all depends on what time you'd be picking me up at, cause like I said, I'm pretty sure I still have to attend school that day. x_x
