Angel Sanctuary dollfies?

WHAT?! O_o;

Angel Studio just released two dollfies modeled to look like Lucifer and Gabriel/Jibrielle from Angel Sanctuary. I kid you not, they even have the outfits!

And they're not available with the outfits right now but apparantly they will be. O_o Crazies. And they're only like $300 and full 60cm dolls. O_o

Edit: And no, I have no intention of getting him. Just weirded out by it all. lol Though tempted to try to get the outfit if it ever becomes avialable. XPXP

O__o hmm! I like that outfit too, but... kinda questioning why a 60cm dolls is $300...D:

Well I did read on DOA that its actually like a sales type thing for the company where they said they would put a low price on some of their dolls but they would only be limited to like 50 a month. But also seems like the dolls for this company tend to be cheap in general.

You never know though. I have friends who have gotten really cheap dolls that turned out to be just fine. But yeah, I would question it too.

Yeah, and I hate how everyone on DOA is like "well, they can't do anything about it because they didn't rip it off exactly, etc. etc." and I'm like "Nooo, they totally ripped it off exactly!" and at first thought the outfits were just for show but apparantly they are going to be selling them with the dolls later.

But maybe they actually did get permission? I'm hoping because I'd be really sad if they didn't.

i doubt a japanese manga artist would give permission to some random chinese doll factory. that and it's not just her permission, you'd have to get license through the magazine/book companies. they cost money

i dun think they did it. like that nana doll, i don't think they did that either =.=

I don't know much about how these things work in Japan but is there anything the manga/magazine company could do about this? 'Cause I really don't like the idea of them ripping off her characters.

it costs too much money to sue a company over seas. they don't always pursue sueing sadly.

futhermore, they're referring directly to other companies about their skin tones? this company, along with their cheap prices, just screams rip off. it seems chinese doll companies have little scruples when it comes to these things...

Which is unfortunante. I was looking at some of their outfits as they're pretty cool but now I'm completely turned off as I don't want to support a company that is just ripping off other people's ideas.

Ah yeah, another friend of mine also has interest in Jibby. But now my thoughts are rather wary of this company 'cause it doesn't look like they got permission to use those designs.

Yeah, the face just isn't Lucifer.

Though blah, now I'm all pissed 'cause most likely this company did NOT get the rights to use her designs. And that's just not cool. It would be one thing if the designs were based off of it but this is direct copying of designs down to the make-up details.

Sad too as otherwise this would've been quite cool.

What? Argh, yeah that's totally messed up and I don't approve. Being an artist in general, you have the general fear of your stuff getting stolen without your permission all the time. Kaori Yuki is someone I know we both greatly respect, so I hope something will be done about it.

It looks like the company used her works as "inspirations". I mean they chose outfits where you don't really see the full body picture (at least in the artbooks) so they could claim it was simply inspiration and they wanted to do a doll similar to the work.. it's like, they're not clearly ripping her off, and yet they are. Kinda weird to explain.. I run into this stuff a lot at work. We find a lot of people ripping off our tshirts, artwork, designs, yadda yadda.
