doll Fai costume coat #1

Well finished the 2nd layer, the undercoat, today.



Was a lot easier than the shirt oddly enough. lol Tis also fully lined. And once again missing a few details but I'm lazy and will just do all those bits at the end. We shall see what ones I can actually manage to make in such small size. ^^;;

Sadly I do not have the right fur for the big fluffy coat like I thought I did. The only long fur in Mom's collection is kinda...blah. So back out tomorrow I go. XP But hey at least I've been making sure to get enough so that I can make at least one more (maybe 2) of these to put on DOA or something.

Also, I might go ahead and paint the big coat after all. I think I have an idea on how to do it but I'll experiment with a little piece first. I was just thinking how it might be kinda hard for Tom to get the design on if the thing is all sewn together already. Or at least the design on the sleeves so maybe I should just do at least that little part unless you think he'll be able to do that fine too. I know he's better at paint than I am.

Welp it'll be coming along shortly hopefully. Going out to get the fur soon and the actual construction is pretty easy. Just gotta figure out if I'm doing the painting or not.

ummmm as for the painting, if you want to try it, that's fine. Tom just said "getting tom to do that will take forever, you can write that." Be as adventurous as you want to be, I have complete confidence in you!!

Okies, though having finally starred at the various photos of this costume 'cause I never really looked at it that hard before, I never realized how different the two versions of it is. XP Since the one he actually wears only has a small design on the sleeves and that's it while the artbook one has the big uber design of doom which I may have to condense a bit if I do just because the one I'm making isn't quite as huge as that (I figured you didn't want it to be eating Caspian alive here). And technically the artbook one also has designs on the shirt and I think its a bit late to add that. ^^;; This is what I get for never starring at that one that hard! I was always too busy starring at the other outfits. XP

I did test the paint out on a tiny piece of the fabric and it seems to take to it rather well. I can do the big one of doom, just may take me a bit of time so I don't screw it up. XP And gotta see if I have a different shade of blue to make the gradient with. *rambleramble* As you can clearly see I've spent too much time thinking on things with this outfit. haha!

I find it a bit hard but depends on what you're making. Some people find it easier than human clothing but it depends on who you are I guess, lol. I find it harder personally. XP
