2006 in retrospect

rose_of_painHadn't really been doing much online since Magenta was here so I was busy. She went home today after spending the last few days with me in Gettysburg for a while. 'Twas fun. Really glad I was able to go in the end. I got to see everyone again and it was spiffy. We had some Gettysburg touring time for Jamie's Sweedish bf and Magenta since they'd never been there before. And there was fireworks after midnight came. Also got to show her Elisabeth on Monday right before we went back to my place. ^^ I was happy to get to see it again. Aw, such wonderful goodness.
But yes, Magenta finally decided on a name for her boy. It's Julian and he got to meet Dietrich so that was cool. I will post those pictures later when I get around to finish resizing and uploading.
Anyways, it's now 2007 and of course I totally missed the right moment to say Happy New Year's and all that. Ah well. And now that everyone already has done their year reviews, I shall finally post mine.
All in all it was actually a pretty damn amazing year for me. Though there was still a lot of angst and such, mostly I had a pretty good experience. Mostly it was just seeing friends go through hard times that made it angsty, though I was pretty much okay for the whole year. A lot of important things happened this year.
Big Events of the Year:
- Got my first dollfie, my DOD U, Dietrich in January, a great start to the year
- WENT TO JAPAN!
- Met Yoshiki at Otakon.
So right there that's like 3 of my life goals accomplished in just one year. XP Pretty awesome.
School:
- Ended up in the same suite with friends I thought I got along with the most and yet it feels as if things have gotten awkward amoung us and its only been one semester. Meh.
- Started work in the Costume Shop under Leon, which has got to be like the coolest job ever and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Let's me finally get involved in the drama department without having to act or anything.
- Went on a study tour to Japan for about 2 weeks, which was an amazing experience. Was also my very first time being on a plane and traveling off the east coast of the US.
Japan:
- Got to stay at a monastary in Mt. Koya-san (aka "monk town") and hanged out with Kurto-san, our Sweedish monk guide who spoke like a gazillion diff languages
- Got to go to one of the Tenshi no Sato dollfie stores in Tokyo and see the big one in Kyoto
- Got my picture taken with 2 geishas that we ran into
- Saw an awesome kabuki play at the kabukiza in Tokyo
Cosplay and Conventions:
- Got to go to three cons I'd never been to: Ohayocon, AnimeNext, and MangaNext
- Made Abel...then made Abel again
- Went in and out of a cosplay slump because of Abel >>;
- Finally managed to make AC Cloud look decent
- Saw Yoshiki at Otakon *_*
- Saw Despairs'Ray at AnimeNext
- Saw MUCC and Nana Kitade at Otakon
- Participated in panels for the first time at Ohayocon
- Was part of one of the hugest Kingdom Hearts groups ever XP
- Made my first real comission and gained $300 for it ^_^
- Definitly have improved in my skills. Empire Abel is evidence of this.
- Finally made Lucifer, a costume I've wanted to make for YEARS now.
Anime/Manga:
- Trinity Blood continues to eat my soul for the 2nd year in a row
- Was swept away by the awesomeness that is Saint Seiya and watched the first 60 episodes within one week with Magenta
- Got really into Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and D.Gray-Man
- Was introduced to the crack that is Keroro Gunsou XP
- Spazzed all over Princess Tutu
Videogames:
- Broke my roomate's PS2 trying to mod it so I could play Dirge >>;;
- Finally did play Dirge of Cereberus in Japanese, my first time playing a game in Japanese from start to finish before it came out in the US
- Kingdom Hearts II, which was the first time I got a game on its release date
- Played AnimaMundi and got all the endings and CGs, first time finishing a "dating SIM" type PC game
- Borrowed and finished Xenogears
- Started FFXII which I am addicted to just like everyone else is
Friends/Relationships:
- Developed a rather hard to explain close relationship with Magenta. To make it clear, no, we are not dating.
- Spent the most money ever on just one friend by buying Magenta a Tender Too ^^;; And I don't regret it.
- Got to meet more peeps of the crack crew
- Met a bunch of new cosplay peeps while still keeping most of my old ones
- Lost a few people, but nothing traumatising or dramatic. Mostly just friendships that were fading already.
So all in all a pretty good year, though expensive. ^^;;
