Bleed in Blue

Turned 26 today. Kinda uneventful birthday. Didn't really do anything today but had suishi for it at least. Yesterday saw the new Muppets movie with my parents and it was really good. Glad I decided to go see it in the theaters. Muppets always make things better.

Anyways, here's my little birthday haul:


I actually bought the Utena ring myself but it just happened to arrive today so that's why I'm counting it. XD I've always wanted one since I was 13 but could never afford one. And well I needed one for my Utena cosplay but the official ones are no longer sold. Luckily I found a guy on DeviantArt that makes cheaper resin versions of them so got one of those. The size I got is a bit too big though but that's ok, I can glue craft foam to the inside and that should keep it from sliding around. Or might even buy a smaller one later on but don't want to bother right now.

The pony is from my friend Carrie and she gave it to me on Friday when we hung out and watched the first episode of BBC Sherlock which had been sitting on my computer for months. XD I thought of it when we were watching that day's episode of Doctor Who and they had an ad for the 2nd Sherlock film and I was all "Oh! Btw! There's a version of Sherlock done by Moffat, do you want to check it out?" And Carrie loves Moffat's seasons of Doctor Who so she was all for it. Watched episode 2 earlier today and part way through episode 3 now. Totally love it~

A little disappointed in the Play Arts Kai figures though. Lightning there is awesome and actually came with the stand this time (while Cloud did not) but its actually kinda hard to get her to do any of the poses and the gun form of her weapon likes to come apart easily (luckily I'm only really interested in the sword form of it anyways). Her hair is also very...shiny. lol Kinda odd. And she's a lot taller than the FFVII Play Arts I have so she kinda stands out. XD Might decide to put her on a different shelf. So, anywho, I decided to give her stand to Cloud since I'd rather have him do the crazy poses than her as I think his figure is more made for it. But while trying to get him to do the double handed grip on his sword, one of the hands...broke off. T_______T And I'm still trying to repair it. Waiting a good amount of time for the glue to harden and be stronger this time. I think I didn't wait long enough earlier and that's why it came off again. But its his main sword hand too. Argh. I've only had him for a few weeks too. Booooo.

So this report ended up being too big for just one post. XD Wow. I don't think I've had that happen before. I've split con reports into parts before but that was just 'cause I didn't feel like writing them up all at once in the past. Pffft...

I was originally going to wait til I had more photos but I don't think I'll be getting the Ningyou and PH ones for quite some time so I may just do a separate post for them when I get them. Anywho, this Otakon was kinda bleh just 'cause of how crazy hot and crowded it was. Seriously in all the 11 years I've gone, this was by far the most crowded I've ever seen the con. Even with the added Hilton area, it didn't seem to make a difference. And it was kinda odd because yeah Otakon is huge but last year it wasn't this bad. It was actually pretty nice but I guess people decided they couldn't afford it then but suddenly they could this year. I dunno. I'm kinda really hoping they lower the attendance cap again like they did a few years ago. I think it would really help because if it keeps being like this...its not going to be fun anymore. I mean maybe I just had a lower tolerance for it because of the hotter-than-normal heat but it really was unbearable.

But despite that, I still had a good time. I'm just sad that I really didn't spend much time IN the con. Otakon is my number one con for random wandering and people watching. I didn't do that AT ALL this con 'cause I couldn't stand trying to get through the crowded halls. I didn't wear any of my costumes for very long and thus don't have many photos.

Anywho now onto the actual report, which will be a tad bit less rant-ish. XD As like I said, still had fun, despite that. It was just a major set-back though.

Tomorrow I'll probably be making a post about what the hell I should do cosplay wise next as I'm kinda overwhelmed with possible plans for AUSA/Fall and I need MASSIVE help from you guys to help me decide. *nod* So expect that sometime tomorrow when my brain is actually working...

So Happy Birthday Cloud! Sorta. XP Even though his actual b-day is the 11th now, most of the fans still seem to be celebrating it on the 19th. Confuses the hell out of me. XP Though not like I can really think of anything to do for him anymore.

Saw Stardust today. ^_^ I liked it a lot! No wonder everyone's been all spazzing about it. It was a total feel-good movie too. And ah man, I want to be Captain Shakespeare! XP I'd totally dig having my own huge wardrobe on my own flying ship. Hell yeah! He reminds me of a character I used to play actually. XP

Oh and I have the latest TB book now. The first of Reborn on the Mars (love how they kept the engrish-like title for the translated version XP) but I haven't even touched it yet even though I bought it on Friday. ^^;; Granted I sorta already read that one 'cause they had pretty detailed summaries for it on the boards years ago. So its not like its anything new to me unlike Revenge Against the Moons is. But I really should get around to reading it anyways.

So yeah, not going to the cherry blossom festival this year. Got no ride. o_o; I might have a ride after all now...
