Katsucon 2007

Sorry for the lack of any update in the last few days. I've been too dead to post anything. XP But yes, I'm back from con and alive...sorta. Katsucon was definitly far better than last year, that's for sure. Glad I gave it a second chance. Though it also might've just been because of the people I was with. Either way, I greatly enjoyed it this year.

So...onto the bigass report!

Friday:

So Jes and her Mom totally managed to get very confused trying to find my college. ^^;; Doesn't help that I fail at giving directions as well but eventually Gabi and I were able to guide them to the right place. Then we went off and it was a pretty fun ride as Jes had a very good selection of music and her Mom was very cool and amusing to listen to. I enjoyed riding up with Wynn and Jes. ^^ We got to the con around 1pm ish and I hadn't even gotten through the door before I got attacked by Chrissy who was all throwing this newspaper thingy at me. o_o;; Turns out there was some fanzine thing that was given out in the Katsu bags and it had that thing fansview entered us in back at AUSA. I was confused at the time he did it but apparantly it was like a cosplay contest where peeps in this zine vote on who they think is the most obsessed cosplayer and all. I uh, got a pretty high rank in the set they had in this issue. ^^;; lol Not sure if thats a good or bad thing. Pretty much everyone who was in the TB group at AUSA got in.

Anyways, luckily didn't take long at all to find Magenta, who had just gotten there as well. In fact, I wonder how long we were both just standing there, not realizing we were just a few feet away from each other. XP Got her stuff and soon Becky found us and we went up to the room. Was really happy to be rooming with Alyce, Brittany, Tom, Becky, and Jamie again and was really awesome to have Dani there with us. Also got to meet Becky's cool friend, Lauren. Almost immediately, Dani, Magenta, Becky, and I got our boys out and had a mini dollfie spazzing moment where we exchanged wigs and looked at everything each other had. Kinda forgot about the con completely for a while til we rememebered we were supposed to be doing cosplay stuff. Though when Alyce came in the door in her Tsubasa Sakura costume, that immediately made me happy and I started getting into Subaru for her. Magenta got into Toshiya and went to do her J-Rock stuff while I went to go get my badge. SOOOO glad I pre-regged as there was NO line at all. While Becky and Dani had to go in this CRAZY-ASS HUGE line for their badges. XP

Nami and Tara had to get their badges too so they went to the huge line as well. So Magenta, Alyce, and I decided to keep Becky and Dani company as they waited in line. We talked about future cosplay plans and man, I'm still pumped up over all the new ideas and the possible skit idea. *_* Very excited! We also realized that Dani's DS went along with Alyce's Sakura costume rather nicely...

We got tired of waiting in that line though and decided to wander off. Alyce went to go change and Magenta and I hung with Ling, Mimi, Ken, and company for a little bit til Becky and Dani finally got out of line and I went to the Dealer's Room with them while Magenta hung out with Ling. I managed to get all the manga I wanted. ^^ TB vols. 7 & 8 and Fairy Cube 2 & 3. Magenta had already gotten me Ludwig 2 so I didn't have to get that one. Then I saw that one of the Tsubasa covers had a color image of Kamui on it so I had to go find Dani and show it to her to convince her to do Kamui. I think it worked. XP Also had a really nice long conversation with the girl at the booth who apparantly is a friend of some of my LJ friends or something. Didn't catch her name though. Talked to her about lots of things including learning japanese, chinese, and dolls. Asked for advice on whether Die's arms need to be tightened or loosened and well...no one can seem to figure it out, sadly. x_x;; I think there really isn't a way to fix that. Bah. Might try the sueding instead of restringing though. I was going to do more shopping but realized that a lot of time had gone by and it was past the time I told Magenta I was going to change into Cloud. Oops. So rushed back to the hotel room, got out of Subaru, and into Cloud. Called Nami up and she did a quick and awesome styling of the Zack wig for us. Though in my hurry, I totally forgot to put on the neckpiece of Cloud and didn't realized i forgot it til Sunday. x_x;; But I was too focused on getting the dolls ready as the doll meet was going to be soon.

We weren't really sure where to go for the doll thing but we wandered into the artist alley and saw a bunch of doll type people so wandered over there. It was a bit awkward at first and we got really shy and nervous as this was the first doll meet for either of us and we weren't sure if we should still go. But then Magenta's friend Jen, aka Daishi, showed up with her elf Yder and that relaxed us a bit. Then everyone went up to the room the gathering was to take place at. Was quite the migration. Took several elevator trips to take us all. lol There was quite a lot of people. We went to this girl's suite room and it was pretty chaotic at first. Jen, Magenta, and I just kinda sat in our own little corner instead of putting our dolls in the big pile. Then Dani showed up and we arranged our dolls on a chair.

The gathering was actually really fun and we saw a lot of really awesome dolls. Then I spotted a Lahoo and me and Magenta were just *_* all over him. Still really really love Lahoo and after getting to hold him, decided the DOTs are not that heavy at all. I was afraid they'd be heavy since they're taller than Luts but they're actually much lighter than Luts so I think I'm still going to get a Ducan after all. But not any time soon. XP Anyways, Jackie showed up and brought her lovely dolls as well and Nami, Tara, and Alyssa showed up to see the dolls as well. Becky eventually got there but not til everyone was starting to leave and such. We decided to head out ourselves, dropped the dolls off in our room and spent some time wandering the con. Alyce and Tom were in Celes and Locke so we went to the FF gathering with them though it was really unorganized. ^^;; Barely a shoot. The rest of the night was pretty uneventful though. We did go to the late night yaoi viewing though. I warned Magenta about The Legend of Blue Wolves and its totally awfulness but she went to see it anyways. XP Was as horrid as I remember. Though it was amusing to see everyone's reactions. They showed a lot of good stuff after that but it was hard to enjoy as people kept making rude comments. >>;; So we ended up leaving after Level C.

We changed out of costume and just wandered with our dolls for a bit but couldn't find anyone to talk to so just sat down in this couch area for a while just chatting til it got late and a hotel staffer told us that area was closed. Bah. So, giving up on anyone to hang with, we just went back up to the room. Then looked at very strange hentai information on Becky's laptop with her friend Lauren for a bit before crawling onto the air mattress with Magenta to sleep next to Dani. Though we were next to the vent and I decided to be all gentleman like and take the blunt of the vent since Magenta gets cold really easily. I wasn't really cold but the constant "turn on/turn off" kept me up. That and I couldn't seem to find a comfortable position. Also the fact that we didn't really have a pillow. Dani offered us her Vincent picture for the rest of the con.

Saturday:

Woke up feeling very cold. Apparantly the vent did get to me after a while. Or at least my legs were cold. Was not a pleasant feeling. ^^; Anyways, eventually convinced myself to get up and start getting into Abel as the usual TB crazies was going on in the room. Magenta got into her Mikhail for the mini Anima Mundi group and her, me, and Dani went ahead down since we knew it would take Alyce and Jamie a while to get down in their big costumes. The lobby was as crazy as it always is on Saturday. Eventually Jamie and Alyce made it down and Magenta found Ling and Mimi and they went off as the rest of us did our TB posing.


Its not that surprising that Dietrich ended up under Esther's skirt. XP

Then eventually Brittany made her way down in her very impressive Belias costume from FFXII. ^^ Ya know, the fire Esper with 2 heads and four arms. XP


Nuff said. XP Though wish my camera hadn't made it so dark.

While Alyce and Jamie had pictures galore taken, Dani and I wandered around the lobby and talked to various friends of ours. Then I suddenly saw Takarazuka cosplayers and ran off. Dani apparantly found it rather amusing. "Suddenly I just see you run off and I'm like 'Hm, there's only a few things she couuld've seen that would've made her happy.'" XP She knows me too well and wasn't surprised when she saw that I was spazzing over Zuka people. They were really nice and doing that Caesar play that I totally just forgot the name of. Something Roma. ^^;; Spazzed with them for a little while til Alyce and Jamie said they were going off and Dani and I went to find Magenta. Found her and took some silly pictures of Dani playing with the Anima Mundi props. ^^;;

Then talked Magenta into changing into Gankutsuou. Went back to the room, and while the midst of changing, Dani took out the Nazi My Little Ponies that Shelly had made for her...and started playing with them...

Anyways...XP Then we got into our fabulous Gankutsou cosplays though Tom sadly didn't join us as The Count because he had forgotten his gloves. ;_;

And my sexy little Franz. ^_^ I made this one as well. Really proud of the design I painted. Yes, I handpainted both of them.

Anyways, we went into the Dealer's Room and got ourselves some Gankutsuou doujinshi 'cause we are just that silly. XP Though the ones we got at first turned out to be mostly novel so went back and got them exchanged for the really hot Baiser ones we love. Then hung out with Tina and Digikoomi in the artist alley for a while. They were in their really really awesome D.Gray-Man cosplay though I missed seeing Jackie's Linali. After a while, we decided we should go back to the room and give our dolls some attention. Julian had really wanted some alone time with Dietrich but Asherin got invovled and they kept getting interupted so it was a bit awkward. Poor boys. ^^;; Those pictures were surface eventually. Then Nami and Tara came up to our rooms with a surprise. They had gotten bored and raided their luggage for smutty clothing to wear with their Loveless ears and tails so we had a slutty Ritsuka and Natsuo at our door all of a sudden. o_o So they talked me and Magenta into joining them. ^^;; So I got to be pimping as Seimei. It was hot. XP



Ran into the Zuka girls again and they had their laptop out, watching the Roma show so I sat down and chatted for a bit. But I knew Tara and Nami were bored so we decided to go wander with them to make it up. Went into the videogame room, which was awesome. There was a whole room full of old school arcade games. We failed at all of them though. XP Then found an open Wii in the other room and Seimei showed the kittens how to play with their Wiis. Yes, I know that was bad. Bwaha. Finally got to play the boxing game as they had nunchuks there and we don't have them in my suite so that was fun. Even if I had no idea what I was doing.

Eventually Nami and Tara went back to their room to go to bed though and Magenta and I wandered back over to the Zuka girls and spent the rest of the night with them, watching stuff. It was great and an awesome end to the day. They really made me happy as I found out from them that most of their DVDs are actually region-free and aren't as expensive as I thought. o_o! So I think I know where a bit of money will be going in the near future. >>;; Hung with them til around 3am or so when we decided we really should go back up and take a shower. Then snuggled back on the air mattress and this time I wasn't next to the vent so had a much easier time sleeping.

Sunday:

Woke up a bit late, as I thought we would. lol And of course, as predicted, got a call from Nami, being all "where are you guys?" XP haha. Oh well. Knew that was going to happen. But we still packed up a little and headed out in our actual Loveless cosplays this time. Found Nami, Tara, and then met up with Ken as Ritsuka with a Soubi who I did not catch the name of. Got quite a few good pictures and fun was had by all.


Once again Seimei ended up pimping. XP

Didn't stay in costume for long though as we had to go finish packing, bring our stuff down and then with Jes and Wynn watching our stuff, went into the artist alley and managed to pick ourselves up some dollfie goodies. Got Die some stockings, which he'll probably kill me for. XP And a little rubber matching bracelet with Julian. XP Too cute. Though as I can like never hear my cell phone ring at cons, I totally missed the like 12 times Nami called me. ^^;;; Oops. They had to leave and all so they could catch their bus. ;_; So had to say goodbye to Magenta, Nami, and them. Which was sad. Then just hung with Jes, Wynn, Eric, Spike, and Matt for a bit. Then went over to talk to Dani and Emma and had a really nice conversation with Emma. Was good to get caught up with her finally. But then Jes's Mom showed up and we had to dash out as the hotel was giving her a hard time about waiting out front. So didn't even really get to say goodbye to everyone. ;_; Sadness. Then we headed out and I got dropped back off at the college, where I pretty much passed out. XP
