Dissidia junk

According to my hour counter, I've played over 80-something hours in Dissidia Duodecim...*twitch* lol
This game goes on forever. XD Right now trying to level my characters up so I can play Confessions of a Creator and not die all the time 'cause I only have a few high level chars and I'd rather have a full party that's all at 50+ for it.
Honestly I probably would have stopped by now if it wasn't for the fact that in this version you actually unlock scenes and I kinda want to get them all. >>; We'll see how long this lasts. As I know I still have to go through all the 000 stuff after this. It probably wouldn't take me as long if I wasn't trying to level up my other characters and trying to get more KP and thus setting my high characters' levels lower to get the points. Else I probably could have zoomed through it with my level 100 Cloud. ^^;
Though now that I finally have free reign of my characters, been having fun setting everyone's Assists and costume changes. And let me tell you, I never get tired of watching Seph and Cloud fight together in my game since I totally have them as each other's Assists. XD And they actually work a lot better than my other combos. (Which are of course Kain/Cecil, Zidane/Kuja, and I've been varying on who gets to be Light's Assist). Its really cute with Kain and Cecil though 'cause when you summon Cecil as an Assist, he tends to be all asking if you're alright which is extra cute when he's saying it to Kain.
However I am sad that despite the obvious chance they had, they did not do any interaction between Cloud and Lightning in this game at all and I think that's sad. 'Cause that could have been amazing. XD Though I still swear that Kuja was hitting on Cloud at one point. And Frioniel's little crush on Light is freaking adorable. I also must admit that despite having no interest in FFXI, I have rather come to love Shantotto. And Prishe is fun to play.

Date: 2011-04-24 05:06 am (UTC)Clearly, I don't have the time I should dedicate to this game! (Maybe once the semester's over, I hope.)
Would you believe I keep forgetting about assists? I only have Cloud/Lightning and WoL/Firion! XD
I must second that Kuja was hitting on Cloud at one point.

Date: 2011-04-24 05:11 am (UTC)Welp I hadn't really done any Arcade-mode til after I was done re-playing all of 013. And both that and 012 didn't really allow you to change the Assists so this is my first time really getting to play with them. So now I'm all like "whee~" fooling around with it, enjoying my freedom. XDXD 'Cause it took forever to finish Shade Impulse this time around. Since it was all put together in one gigantic chunk.

Date: 2011-04-24 06:12 am (UTC)I've been playing a lot of one-on-one battles (where assists can be set) for the alternate outfits. For some reason, they don't work with the main storyline. The 012 one at least. :\
Pfft! I was hurrying through the first game's story as the release for doudecim came closer. When I saw the spoilers that the 013 story was included in doudecim, I dropped Shade Impulse after the second chapter. But, really, one gigantic chunk sounds something terrible! :O

Date: 2011-04-24 04:06 pm (UTC)Yeeeaaah, that was probably a smart move. lol As you do have to go through it all over again. Though, once again my memory might be rusty, I think in the original game you only get parts of Shade Impulse each time you play? Like the scenes depend on who you play it as? I think? I can't remember. lol I just know that playing SI in Duodecim I was all "Wait...I don't think I've seen these scenes before..." because it puts you through ALL the characters' scenes with their respective villains, even if you don't have them in your party. Its a little weird just in the sense that like you'll have Kuja and Zidane talking it out and about to fight but then the actual fight is Cloud and Kuja (depending on who you have set in your party at the time). Though you don't actually have to do everyone's bits 'cause some of them are in the optional blue gates. Only some are in the mandatory red gates. But I kinda like completion so I did them all. lol And pretty much each gate is a different character's SI bit. So it just kinda goes on forever. ^^;; And then ends with the obnoxious Chaos fights (I was like "I have to do this all over again?! T_____T" 'cause it took me a really long time to finally beat him the first time, but at least my characters were higher leveled now and the party system HELPED A HELL LOT so I was able to strategize it, even if it meant sacrificing 3 characters to do it).

Date: 2011-04-24 06:18 am (UTC)I think Kuja hits on ANY protagonists that he encounters. XD He brings me joy. I've also been pairing up my assists by game. OH THE IRONY! Well, sometimes anyway. Sometimes I set up assists based on how well they kick ass, but whatever. :P
This game is way too much fun. XD

Date: 2011-04-24 03:58 pm (UTC)They might make the FFIX ones available on the American PSN too though considering they've pretty much made all the Japanese ones available eventually. Which actually annoyed me a little 'cause I was feeling all special having stuff only available to me (but I decided not to bother 'cause its not worth the money).
And yeah now that you've finished 012, you play 013 which is actually just the entire first Dissidia game but done in Duodecim style so you get to run around a world map and such for each character. But in the original Dissidia, it was just a chess board type thing you did for each one. And more Reports get unlocked through that. Though I should warn you, they bumped the levels up a little on those 'cause I think they figured most people have played the first game and are coming in with leveled up characters. 'Cause on the original game, each first stage only had like level 1 fights and goes based on how they think your character should be leveling up but when I went through 013 on Duodecim, some of the first stage fights were like level 7s and it goes a lot faster in level raise. And I actually had a hard time with some of my lower leveled characters I hadn't used as often, like Onion Knight and Bartz who were only at level 11-13 from my previous game. So I have a feeling starting with level 1 with them may be harder. Unless the game is actually set to change the levels based on your data. I don't know. lol
But I must say, having these Reports makes the game a lot more interesting and makes it not as painful to have to replay the first storyline ALL OVER AGAIN. x_x But gah I've looked ahead in the translations I'm using and it gets pretty damn hard. Which I expected 'cause in the first game, after Shade Impulse and Shantotto and Gabranth, there was this extra stage you unlocked and I couldn't get past the first fight in it. ....With my level 100 Cloud. I still couldn't get very far and I was kinda like "ok...how the hell do I do this?! Its not like I can level him up any higher!" And I know there's something like that in this game but it has actual story to it and I've heard that your characters can then go BEYOND level 100. O_O So yeah...crazy. But I mean it is a game that doesn't really have a start and finish. Well the main story does at it definitely ends at 013 and then everything else is just fooling around and getting side bits. 'Cause Confessions of a Creator is really just this no-man-land and its all silly stuff about the staff and whatnot. 'Cause you can use any character there.
And that was a lot of rambling. ^^;; Sorry.

Date: 2011-04-24 04:10 pm (UTC)Though keep in mind, the PSN recently crashed so not sure if you can do anything on it yet. Not sure if it went back up or not as I don't go on it very often but my friends were all freaking out over it. lol Hell I just recently finally made my own accounts myself (I made both an English and Japanese account so I could get my Japanese DLCs and such).

Date: 2011-04-24 08:52 pm (UTC)I hate that it's so hard to get the Japanese stuff...I plan on attempting to download FFIX in Japanese just because I love it so much and am curious to see what the original is like (do the characters have a bit of different personalities?) and it would be fun Japanese practice. But man, having to get a Japanese PSN, buy a yen card, flub a Japanese address, etc. etc. HUGE pain! And I hate the idea of having to buy like a $30 card just to get something that's like $12 D: I think they sell 500 and 1000 yen cards though so if I can find them I might do that. I am determined! lol
I can access the PSN on my PSP, and I already have an account, so I'm good to go there for American releases. I wish those stupid hackers would knock it off though. It's been down since like Wednesday I think and I don't think it's up yet. It would be nice if they could have found a way to get to Sony without ruining it for everyone. Oh well. Hopefully it'll be up soon.
I've been hearing about how there is so much crazy stuff on Dissidia. That whole over level 100 thing...I think you can buy some sort of things in the PP catalog that allow you or the enemies to go past the 100 cap or something?? I'm still new to all of this so I really don't know how it works, but I saw it and was all "wtf??". This game is insane. I love it. XD
Thanks for all the info! I really appreciate it. I have a lot to learn yet about the PSP and PSN and all that. I don't know how I survived without a PSP. I love it WAY more than the DS. I feel like a loser for jumping on so late, lol. :B And no worries about the rambling - I ramble a lot myself and appreciate all the help. XD

Date: 2011-04-26 03:46 am (UTC)The faking a Japanese address part isn't that hard actually as they don't actually ever access that information. 'Cause the address I put in doesn't even make any sense. XD;; Since I don't know Japanese towns and how their addresses work...at all. But you can put random stuff in and it'll still work. And on the card front, the cheapest I could find were like the 1000 yen cards but then you have to pay the extra fees and then shipping so it came out to be more like $16 in the end. x_x If you find places that have the 500 ones or ones that don't have as high fees, let me know. I wouldn't mind at least getting a few of the smaller items. To be honest not sure if the Aerith Assist is worth getting despite my huge love for all things FFVII. Just 'cause you can only select your Assists in Arcade and Confessions of a Creator.
Yeah, not sure what in the game exactly lets you do that but there's something at some point. lol We'll see if I ever get to that. Since I use all my PP on the character stuff instead of the system stuff.
And hey I'm just excited to have other people to talk about Dissidia with finally. XD As very few of my friends got the first game (most of them just watched me play) and even with this one, had to wait a little while (though not as long) for people to finally have it. And a lot of my friends thought the game was stupid. T_T I mean, yeah, its basically a crossover fanfic on crack but hey its not meant to be serious! Its a fighting game, folks. When do those ever make sense?

Date: 2011-04-27 02:07 am (UTC)I thought you could select your assists anywhere but the story mode. I thought?
That's crazy that you hardly know anyone with Dissidia! And pffft who would take Dissidia seriously?? It's a fighting game, it's not supposed to have a compelling story with original characters. XP It's basically the Smash Brothers of PlayStation. No one had a problem with Smash Brothers so what's the deal? :P
