hey doll people - wings!

Yeah I know I usually make doll posts on my doll LJ but I've come to realize a lot of folks on here have dolls that aren't on that LJ and I think people notice posts on here a lot better than on there.

Anyways! Since I posted about it on DOA I figure I should post it here too. For my most recent doll, I made a pair of (in my opinion) kickass wings and now I'm wondering if there's any interest in people wanting wings of similar features. Trying to figure out how much feathers to order as alas my area now sucks in trying to get these feathers. I used to be able to find them really easily but that was years ago and now all I can find are really crappy ones (trust me I've gone to like every craft store around and bought a bag and each time been disappointed, had maybe 10 feathers in each bag I could use...while the ones I got in the past had like 30-50 or something like that).

On a doll (though I think most of you have seen photos of him wearing them by now, if not, there's a crapload over at fallen_arcadia)

I was thinking of selling them for maybe $15-20. Unsure of the price right now. Suggestions are great. If everyone thinks they suck and there's no interest, then I will only order enough feathers to make myself a black pair for my other doll.

hhhuuummmm sounds like one of thows things that your not going to really know till you make a pair and post them. but they look really cool. have you thought about ordering feathers offline?? there are a bunch of places that sell them in bulk.

Do you mean online? lol As that's what I'm planning to do once I figure out how much to get. But maybe I'll just get enough to make 2 pairs and try putting one up for sale, see how it goes, then order more if need be.

I think those wings are beautiful. If I still had my doll I would absolutely want a pair (alas, Kamijo > dollfie hehe). Hell, I would kill for person-sized wings like that! I don't think you'd have much trouble at all finding people that would want a pair for their doll/s.

Hm, well the issues seems to be more figuring out the right price. And so far most of the people on the doll community that gave me feedback said they didn't like the fuzz on them which kinda surprised me as most of the doll company made wings have a lot of fuzz, usually a lot more, and people spend tons of money on them. x_x; Go figure. So it seems I'd have to make MUCH nicer quality wings to actually get people to buy them. Bleh.

Thanks! I made a 2nd pair and put them up but so far no real interest. Maybe I have them priced too high. Hmm...
