First ever petticoat. XD Kinda proud of myself. lol Its for blood_sorbet's Maylene costume.


Not too exciting right now but the base of the dress is pretty much done. Now just gotta do all the details and the apron and then it'll look a little more exciting. But at least you can see how the petticoat works (as it is under there, I swear, lol).

I'd throw another petticoat under there, cost/time permitting. Maylene's got some serious "my skirt is twice as wide as my shoulders, hell yeah!" poof, especially when you consider that she's got an apron on over her skirt that adds extra weight smushing down the petti. The gothic lolitas of my aquaintence usually wear two petticoats to get that much gravity defiance.

*nod* Yeah, was a little dismayed how much the skirt pushes the petticoat down already. Didn't think about that. Linked Nat over here so she could see your comment and she thinks she's going to try to get a generic one herself for that. Since the only real reason I made the first one was to get the right lace and length for it, for when she does the sniper poses. Was a little concerned a 2nd petticoat might get in the way but if she has a shorter one and has no lace on it, it should still work.

But thanks for the suggestion as I wouldn't have thought about that.

Yay, it looks awesome! I'm super excited. And I think the commenter above might be right about a second petticoat...I can probably find a generic one myself to wear under the one you made (unless you really want to make another one haha).

I just ordered my wig. I'm so excited for this costume :)

Yeah, I linked you to my LJ here mostly so you could see that comment and get your opinion on that as I do agree. And yeah if you can find one, that'd be great as its a lot of work. lol Try for a shorter one if you can so it doesn't get in the way of the lace on the first one for when you pull it up and all ('cause damn I spent a lot of time putting that 7+ yds of lace on so it better not get covered up, lol).

Already working on the apron and other white parts and its coming out pretty nice. ^^ I forgot about the buttons on the cuffs though. n_n Was hitting myself for that. I got them for the collar piece and then was like "...I knew I was forgetting something..." lol So going to have to go out to get those at some point but otherwise I think I have everything I need now.

Also you're probably going to need someone to help you when you put it on as everything closes in the back and its a little hard to reach. Like just someone to pull up the zipper the remaining way, close the buttons and lace up the mini corsety thing on the back of the apron (damn she's got so much going on lol).
