Finally got around to watching Star Driver.

And gotta say. I'm really enjoying it. I'm only 7 episodes in but I think I'm pretty hooked.

The first episode had me a bit O_o and I was really unsure about it at first.

But I love it for the fact that it's strange. Strange in a good way. The sort of strange that I don't encounter very often in anime but always makes me quite happy and I can't really explain why.

Its strange in the way that Utena is. And Melody of Oblivion. (Princess Tutu, and Tenshi ni Narumon are other titles that fall into this category for me.) And reminds me a little of RahXephon in a way.

Just been a long time since I've encountered one like this. And it makes me happy. lol I mean Gurren Lagann was close but not quite. And most of the other strange animes these days just feel kinda...stupid to me. ^^;; (Like Panty & Stocking, which I just couldn't watch...which saddens me a little as I love the concept...just couldn't get past the first 5 minutes but I guess this is like how I also really didn't like FLCL.)

That and the show has a fox mascot character. And its freaking ADORABLE!!! OMG! I want one! Seriously every time he shows up, I make grabby hands at the screen and tend to "squee!" aloud because its probably the cutest thing I've ever seen. T_T (And instantly joined the ranks of my fav mascots, alongside Mokona and ChuChu.) So thus to say I think I found a future plushie. >> ...which may or may not also mean some future cosplay. lol I'll wait until I've seen more before I make that decision (but "Galactic Bishonen!" is awfully tempting XD).

Like WAAAAAAAAAAY back in 2000 when he came to Otakon, my very first con (as well as the character designer). XD I just wish I had them sign something cooler. T_T All I had at the time was my booklet from one of my Utena CDs (and its a bootleg even OH GOD did I feel stupid when I realized that years later on lol no wonder they were looking at it oddly but this is like back before they made a big deal about that at cons and lol reflecting on their expressions years later, I realize they were probably saying in Japanese "I think this is bootleg..." "Yeah, it is..." "But I don't think she knows." "No, she looks way too young and naive. Lets just sign it and smile." XDXD My Dad actually suggested later on that maybe they were trying to figure out if the item was legit and I was like "Oh I'm sure it is!" PFFFFFFT I was so stupid back then!

But yeeaaaaah. XD She's pretty hot. And I love the whole "do you mind glass?" bit. XD Wai everyone in this is amazing. Hahaha! Its sooooo Utena meets Melody of Oblivion meets RahXephon. For reals yo.

I thought Star Driver was a bit silly at first but it got really good mid season and I've also been hooked. ^^; The last few episodes were pretty good and the back story being partially revealed.

XD So I've heard. I mostly knew of it from hearing on my FL and all. Wish I had had time to watch it earlier but like usual, I'm pretty behind in anime. There are several other series I probably should have watched first but the designs for this made me want to watch it now. XD

I actually tried to talk with some fans anout it from the perspective of gnosticism, but since most of them got stuck somewhere in the first episodes it's a little hard.
I can't understand it! This show rocls! (As well as Utena and Princess Tutu!)

Yeah, its one of those animes that looks really cutesy and so not many people give it a chance, thinking its just typical shoujo. Hell I wasn't even all that interested in it at first, started watching it just 'cause I had it mention by a friend and was pretty sad when they never released more than the first 2 DVDs so watched the rest online many years later.
