Anime USA 2012

Anime USA was in a new location this year. In DC, near the Omni which was Katsucon's hotel for several years. And I actually REALLY liked the new hotel. It had a bit of a confusing layout but it was rather pretty. And definitely A LOT better for photos than the Hyatt. Also being in DC made it very easy to find cheap food with a large range of options, just across the street. I also found the atmosphere and staff to be better than the Omni. And yeah, I'm sure the Omni had the prettiest outside area but I just got so turned off that hotel due to past experiences there. And AUSA is a bit too small to be able to afford that hotel, I'd think. So really I thought this hotel was a good choice for it.
The only real major issues I found with the hotel were the parking and the size of the event rooms. Like they had an alright sized room for the main events room. Nowhere as large as many other cons, but AUSA isn't too big so I thought it worked well. Granted I only was in there for the concert, so not sure how well it worked for the Masq and events with actual chairs. But this seemed to be the ONLY large room the con had. All the panel rooms were really small. Like ok, they'd be fine for small panels but this was also the rooms used for events such as guest panels and the Cosplay Burlesque. And so there wasn't nearly enough seating and many people had to be turned away. Also the viewing rooms were itty bitty. But this seems to be more of an issue of the hotel itself. There was another event going on so I don't know if maybe next year the con may get some of those bigger rooms or if this is all we're allowed to have. Either way...its going to make some events really hard to do at this con if they still decide to use such small rooms.
Anyways, onto what I actually did at the con...
Friday:
Once again, I found myself with an unfinished costume the day of the con. Stayed up pretty late working on it but still couldn't get it done. And this time it was even a simple "easy" costume (Hades/"Alone"'s robes from Lost Canvas) I decided to do just because I wanted something NEW for the con as I really haven't made many costumes for myself this year. But I guess I underestimate how much time it would take. So decided I'd just finish it Fri night and wear it Sat sometime. But still...I'm really not liking this whole sewing-at-con thing I keep having to do. It sucks. lol Anyways, forced myself up after far too little sleep so I could finish packing. Then Alyce, Tom, Brittany, Beth, and their friend Barbara (who I had heard about for years but somehow never met til now!) showed up. Since they had some rather big costume pieces, we decided, in order to save on parking, to pack up everything in one car which Tom and Alyce would drive to the con while the other car stayed parked at my house and the rest of us took metro to the con. This worked pretty well overall. We had a pretty smooth ride on the way there, during reduced fee hours, so we missed the rush hour and all. Then had to go up the scary escalator that's at that stop. Haven't had to go up it in years and didn't miss it at all. XD Though it was amusing to see everyone's reactions to it as they hadn't gone to this stop before.
It was really convenient that the hotel was literally RIGHT there at the metro stop. Like I honestly didn't believe the website when it said it was. lol I figured it'd still be some walking and all. But no, you see it as soon as you get off and just have to cross the road and you're there! We also timed it really well as the car arrived pretty much the same time we did. So we piled the stuff into the lobby, expecting to have to take it all up elevators and the like...only to find out our room was on THE FIRST FLOOR. O_O We were so amazed by this. Not only that, but it was directly next to an escalator, which made this one of the most convenient cons ever for us (though Animazement 2005 still beats this, as we were also the first floor but the con was all on ONE floor so didn't have to go up/down an escalator at all there). So we went down to pick up our badges and headed into the Dealer's Room before even bothering to get into costume, 'cause we didn't have any rush and it was just...right there. XD I was REALLY REALLY tired though. And really out of it most of Friday. I think the lack of sleep from the last few weeks and all was starting to catch up with me (had kinda a chaotic time leading up to the con, so this was pretty much my break from it all). So this resulted in me...not noticing a lot of things. Like Ben and Becca standing DIRECTLY in front of me, calling my name out and me...walking right on by. lol Wasn't until I was standing in the pre-reg line and looked over a bit that I finally saw them. Still starring at me. DERP. And when we were going into the Dealer's, I stopped to talk to Ling and Luna...and totally lost the rest of the gang. And somehow...couldn't find them again. O_o Which was weird because it wasn't a very big Dealer's Room. lol And while I know I didn't have to be with them while shopping, I actually kinda enjoy chatting and such with other people while in there. Especially as I wasn't planning to buy much. Ah well. Did run into Becca, Ben, and Sarah, and wandered with them for a bit. Got the chibi Kai Cloud figure I've been trying to get since Otakon. So was very happy to get that. He's so insanely cute too! Ahh! Even Tom was impressed by the cuteness as he kept playing with him on the bike form, going "vroom vroom" when I took him out of the box later in the room. Also wandered about the Artist Alley for a bit, which was connected directly to the Dealer's. In fact...I never did figure out how to get to the entrance of that. XD I just went in through the Dealer's all weekend 'cause I could never quite remember how to get to it. A lot of the artists weren't at the con yet though so there were a lot of empty tables. There was a lot of Avengers fanart though and that made me happy. XD In fact, I couldn't help but notice that there was very little actual anime art. It's really mostly MLP, Avengers, Doctor Who, Sherlock, SPN, etc. I think that says something about the con scene and where are interests lie more these days. And I'm totally cool with that 'cause these ARE my current interests but it is a little sad at the same time.
I ended up having to cut my time wandering in there short though because my stomach was suddenly like "FOOD. NOW. T_T" lol So I made a beeline outside...which seemed very far when you're hungry. XD Got very excited when I saw a Noddles & Co. so headed straight over there.

Saw this cute Utena and Anthy duo eating there while I left with my food and had to ask them for a photo 'cause they just looked too cute there eating. XD I dunno. I guess it just reminded me of the cafeteria scenes in the anime. ("As meaningless as parsley!")
Got back to the room, ate my food (onomnomnom!), and then we all gradually got into Rozen Maiden. I had to remake my vest-thingy for Souseiseki after Katsu because I realized not binding for that costume was a bad idea. XD And so had to make one to my bounded-down size. That and there were parts of the first one I didn't like. Also adjusted the collar piece so it'd lay better. Overall was a lot more pleased with the how the costume looked this time around. Then we had our shoot with Lionel, who was still gushing about his experience at K-Con during most of the shoot. XD

So here's me in my improved Souseiseki. Still unsure on posing for this character though. XD Its proved to be actually rather hard to try to just look meek/shy and slightly awkward...and not look stupid. lol I either end up looking retarded or accidentally go into my more familiar "badass/angsty bishie" mode. Pffft. Its just ironic 'cause irl I'm actually a lot like her but its hard to translate in posing? I dunno.
Here's some of my favorite photos from our shoot:

I'm so glad he got one of the chandeliers in this shot!

We all know Souseiseki is the pimp of the Rozen Maidens. XD
But yeah, as you can see, this hallway was very pretty! We were quite impressed when Lionel took us to it. Eric had come by the room earlier and mentioned a really pretty wing of the hotel so we assumed he meant this. Until after the shoot and we decided to venture further down...and then realized he meant the next area down. Which was REALLY pretty and old and awesome...and like with no one there. lol Hell they weren't that many people in this hall either. I think most of the con-goers didn't realize this was there until later into Saturday. I suspect next year it'll be a bit more crowded though. We made a mental note to take advantage of it when we could at least.
Went back to the room, changed out of costume, and the gang decided to go get dinner though I hadn't eaten that long ago so decided to pass, especially as they were going to Noodles & Co. after smelling my lunch. XD I was going to go with them anyways, just to hang, but then I decided I should try to take a nap instead as I really was still feeling dizzy and it was getting worse. But did ask Tom to pick me up some food to eat later on. So lazed on the bed for a while, attempted to rest some (no actual sleep though 'cause I get groggy if I sleep after its dark and the sun was already going down at this point), and played with my 3DS some...which I was totally addicted to all weekend. XD I made sure to get mine before the con with the idea of trying to collect Miis at con since I had seen everyone doing that at Otakon. And maaaaan its addicting! lmao Great thing about our room location, was that a lot of con-goers had to pass by our room and so I didn't even really have to take it out that much to get them. lol I did feel better by the time they all came back, which was good timing 'cause I was beginning to get bored and was contemplating just getting into costume and wandering. But was a good thing that I ate first instead as I was starting to get hungry again at this point.
Alyce, Beth, and Barbara wanted to get photos in the old wing in their Dark Shadows costumes so they got into those and I got into Okita. Really had meant to wear him earlier in the day but things just didn't end up that way. Oh well. I really have bad luck with that costume. lol I have very few photos and the few times I've worn him to actual cons, I've timed it wrong and ended up not really wearing him long. And I really should do him during the day and get more outside photos. Ah well.
On our way over to that part of the hotel, I did a total double take at a girl walking down the hall near us. I knew that staff she was carrying but wasn't quite sure on the outfit so I shyly moved over to her and asked "...are you Athena?" and she said yes but by her reaction, I realized "oh, maybe its Athena from a different series..." and like awkwardly asked again and she confirmed she was doing Lost Canvas Athena. Which explains why the outfit didn't ring a bell with me at first as I haven't paid attention to her Lost Canvas outfits in a while and forgot there is one different than her standard outfit. And its one she doesn't wear as much. But yeah...I spazzed a little because I did not expect ANY other Saint Seiya cosplayers, especially not someone doing the same version as me. I told her I was doing Hades and I thought she said she'd be wearing it on Sat as well but I never saw her again the whole con. T_T I was super sad that I didn't have the costume done yet 'cause otherwise I would have just run and gotten into it right then to get photos with her. But I also wonder if my awkwardness and excitement scared her off a little. ^^;;; Dammit. I didn't even think to get a photo of her in my excitement and the realization that I was losing my friends, who hadn't noticed I stopped. *sighs* Definitely a missed opportunity there. Anyways...

Dark Shadows ness (TV versions). Barbara as Carolyn, Beth as Angelique, and Alyce as Josette. I love how evil Beth looks here. XD
While we were taking photos and fooling around, I was struck with the idea that this would be perfect for Elisabeth photos and Alyce and I agreed we should finally make this happen next AUSA. Though later we realized the con is in...September next year. Which kinda ruins everything. 'Cause that weekend is a big event weekend in Gettysburg which means Alyce and Beth won't be able to get off work. And its right after Dragon*Con and Baltimore Comic Con, which makes it difficult for everyone in general. Baaaah. Shame too as the con already has been suffering from decreases in attendance these last 2 years. If none of my friends are getting a room next year, I may only be able to go for a day and metro it in which means I won't be able to do anything big. Which sucks as I'd love to do something more appropriate for this backdrop.

And here's one of the very few shots I got of Okita quickly in the hallway. lol
At some point we went back to artist/dealer's and it was really weird to be in the dealer's so late. They were open til 8pm and I'm used to them closing at 5/6. Almost felt wrong to be there that late. lol That and there wasn't many people in there. Spoke to Carrie for a bit at the booth she and Sarah were sharing. Also got a bit more quality time to look at the artist alley, now that I wasn't half passed out. lol Bought some Thor and Loki stickers from one artist, which are now decorating my laptop. XD We then tried to go see Madoka mainly because Barbara hadn't seen it yet and they were showing the first 3 episodes. But the room was tiny and it was really hard to read the subtitles, especially with several large dudes sitting in the front row, making it hard for anyone small to see over them. That and the subtitles didn't seem to be aligning very well. Later I think either Tom or Joe said they think the con was streaming episodes from CrunchyRoll which may have resulted in the subs doing that from heavy traffic and all. Not really sure why that would result in it but either way, it was annoying. So we left 'cause there was no point if Barbara didn't even know what was going on. After that, we parted ways for a bit as they got out of costume and I decided I wanted to stay in Okita and wander some.
As I was leaving the room and approaching the main events room (which was seriously very close to our room lol) where the formal ball was going on, I swore I saw a Cain and Abel in formal attire fixing each other's wigs and I was going to wait for them to finish before asking them politely for a photo...but then had a Gabi and Adam attack. XD Well...not exactly attack but they were a bit drunk and quite loud and suddenly there. lmao But it was good to see them! But alas when I turned back around, the Cain and Abel were gone. And after con I realized that that was probably Mimi and Ken. Pffft. Double fail. Ah well. At least I got some time to talk and catch up with Gabi and Adam. They also gave me a ton of cake pops that they stuck into my sash. XD I wandered around for a bit more and did have one girl who sorta recognized who I was. lol She wasn't sure at first and turns out she'd only seen the first season of Hakuouki so hadn't gotten to the western outfits yet. But huzzah for one person knowing who I was. XD Got a bit bored as there wasn't much going on at this point and couldn't find anyone I knew, so went back to the room and worked on Hades' sleeves. Didn't finish them that night because I just got really tired and everyone else was already asleep, so I stopped and decided to just finish in the morning.
Saturday:
Woke up and forced myself to finish the sleeves. Then gradually got into Ludwig and had Beth help me with my wig since she's the only one who seems to be able to get it right. XD Then got out of the way so Brittany could get her spider bits on. Did some people watching with Barbara over the railing for a bit. Saw Luna down below so she came up and told me that we would be doing Ludwig photos around 2pm. Which I wish I had known earlier as I wouldn't have gotten into Ludwig so early since the costume isn't exactly very comfortable but oh well. Ling said she was getting in costume anyways so figured I'd meet up with her. In the mean time, I went outside with the Odin Sphere gang and took photos of them. It actually felt REALLY nice outside. In fact got a little hot in the sun due to my pvc so had to move in the shade a few times. XD

Brittany as Odette from Odin Sphere. Her spider head eyes light up but you can't see it that well outside.

Beth as Mercedes

Alyce as Gwendolyn

Fighting Odette
Meanwhile...

Marceline (Barbara) met Ludwig XD
During this, Ling finally found us but her heels kinda sunk into the soft ground so she decided to stay over by the cement area while I continued to get photos. While I was taking photos of Alyce, I hear a sudden scream across the yard of "Lui!" and I turn to see a girl running towards me. o_o She was so excited to see a Ludwig cosplayer that she was practically hyperventilating. Which I gotta say...was rather flattering. XD Though I did worry if she was ok. And then I'm like "You know, I also have a Wilhelm over there *points at Ling from afar*" And then she went running after Ling. XD lol But yeah it was nice having someone know who we are as I don't really expect anyone to know that series when we wear those costumes. After that Ling and I wandered some, collected Miis on our 3DS, etc. XD I actually passed Ling's Mii like 3 or 4 times at the con total. Luna eventually joined us, though she had to pull us away from our Mii collecting as we both would take our game boys out the second we were stopped and not doing anything. Luna was trying to contact one of her photographer peoples but no one was picking up the phone so we had to amuse ourselves somehow. lol We did eventually find one of the photographers she was looking for but he was pretty busy, so took just a few quick shots of us and then went on to rotate between shoots. So we sat down in the old wing to wait for our turn.
In the mean time...several photographer guys found us. XD Had several with rather nice cameras ask us for photos and that was pretty cool. Though I suspect it has something to do with Luna in her little hot riding hood outfit. lol In general I was surprised by how much attention we did get regardless. Though talking to Beth later about it, and we kinda agreed that since a lot of cosplayers couldn't come to the con this year, the photographers who usually just take photos of their friends and the really hot cosplayers, were now looking for others. Since she also noticed their Odin Sphere group got more attention than they would have at most of our regular cons. But still was rather nice to get the attention and get some awesome photos out of it. It was also rather amusing whenever I had to break it to a guy that my character is actually a dude. XD Don't blame them though. It is one of my more feminine outfits. Though many were also confused when we told them Ling was from the same series because Luna and I were dressed in red pvc and Ling is in green formal wear. lol And that my character was the actual prince even though Ling looked more formal and regal in her outfit. So I decided next time I should probably do one of his "normal" outfits so I can match with Ling more. But anyways, I've only gotten a few photos back from the guys that did take shots of us but here are some of them...

Here's our group together. The only group shot I've seen so far.

The latter guy there actually took us to a corner and did a whole private shoot with us, complete with lighting tools and everything. So I was pretty excited and I love the photos so far even if we only have a few at the moment. The only downside is that it did take a pretty long time to do all the shots since he had to do a lot of test shots first each time. And I was starting to get to my limit of being in that costume since I was already in it a lot longer than planned and I wanted to have at least some time in Hades. And the other photographer dude still wasn't ready for us so we decided we'd just try again at Katsucon or something. Hopefully then we can get more in-character shots too. I think we should probably plan to find a friend and just give them our cameras just 'cause I am sad we didn't really get any character interaction now that we finally have a Wil. I really had wanted at least one shot of me kicking Wil and using him as a human shield against Lisette, etc. XDXD Ah well.
On the way back to the room, I ran into Eric...

Queen Victoria is not amused.
Got into Hades, which proved to be an amazingly comfortable costume. Only downside about it is the sandals 'cause I have a hard time walking in them. I used my old Ruthberg sandals which are a size too big but were perfect for this costume. I may just try to find a way to tighten the straps somehow.

Not that exciting of a costume but it made me happy because I really do love Hades and this has gotten me pumped to get back to working on the armor.

Unfortunately realized after I saw these photos...that I made the pants too short. See, I was trying to use the fabric I already had and it wasn't as long as I had hoped but I tried to make it work. Just made them the longest I could with the fabric. And it seemed ok when I was standing. Shorter than it should be but not bad. But didn't think about how they would ride up when I sat down. Deeeeerp. So yeah, they're not supposed to be that high up. XD Already bought fabric to remake them with as at least it's easy. I just feel really dumb.

Love how evil I look here XD

I love the pose and the photo...I just hate my stupid expression. XD But I love how the fabric looks here.
Roamed for a bit and ran into Ben and Becca, who were cosplaying Hawkeye and Apple Jack. So I couldn't help but request this photo...

XD I dunno, I thought the idea would be cute.
Was going to try to find Tans, since I hadn't seen her yet all con when Ren texted, saying he had arrived so went to meet him at the metro stop. Though luckily he realized where the hotel was and started walking there and met me halfway, about at the point where I was going to call to ask him to do so because I was tripping over my stupid sandals and didn't want to walk across the street. ^^;; Then texted Tans to meet us in the lobby and she came right down from the elevator as we walked by. XD So perfect timing all around! Let Ren borrow a badge from one of my roomies so we could go into the Dealer's. Spent a bit more time actually looking at stuff this time around. Then noticed that one of the dealers had the Loki funko figure so couldn't help but point it out to Ren and go to see how much it was, out of curiosity. Since both of us have wanted it but haven't been willing to pay the price it goes for now on ebay. Only to realize that it wasn't the regular one...but the golden limited one from SDCC. For $90. T_T Which granted isn't that bad considering I've seen the silver one go for $50-80 but still ugh. It was tempting but really not willing to spend that much on something so small. ...I know coming from me that sounds kinda silly considering what things I have spent large amounts of money on. ...*cough* Then went into the Artist Alley and led Ren to the booth of one of our favorite Avengers' fanartists. The same one I bought from at both Otakon and BCC. Though the artist wasn't there at the time. Oh well. Ren bought stuffs though.
Also ran into Becky who was with Sapph...who I know from tumblr. Had no idea Becky knew her. And while talking to Becky, she's like "I haven't seen Tans yet." And I'm like "um...*looks over*" and Tans is like "lol" XD But of course I forgot Becky even knew Tans. Pffft. I swear every con I run into Becky at, I discover she knows someone else I'm friends with. Everyone knows each other. Especially you silly RPers.
Changed out of Hades and into normal clothes and met up with everyone so we could go to this sushi place for Beth's birthday dinner. The restaurant was a lot smaller than we expected but I guess we should have thought of that, being DC and all. But good thing we made a reservation so at least they knew. Granted we got there early and they kinda panicked over that. lol Oops. But we were cool and ok with having the group split up, half at two combined tables, and half at the sushi bar. The food was amaaaaazing though. Ahhh sooo good. And they gave us a free appetizer thingy. Though I once again ate too much and had stomach issues afterwards. Not as bad as previous times at least since I did make sure to not order too much. Went back to the room and hung out for a bit before Ren left. The others got back into their Adventure Time cosplays. Which I gotta admit...I really interested in actually trying to watch the show now. I did try once but I was very confused 'cause it was a random episode and I was working on stuff so couldn't really stay focused on it. But I think if I just start from the beginning, maybe I'll get it.
I decided to go to the Mix Speaker's Inc. concert and man I'm glad I did! I will sadly admit even though I've known of the band for years, I was too lazy to actually look into their stuff. Only watched like one music video a year ago or so. But I really liked their look and I wanted to see Aya and Seek again. I was a huge Psycho le Cemu fan back in the day (as most people know, considering I still carry around my PLC bag from the concert from Katsucon '05) and I gotta admit, I still get sad about them from time to time. So I was VERY happily surprised to see how much like PLC this band is. I mean there are definitely differences but in a good way. All their music was highly energetic and fun. And I loved the fact they did have dances and the old para para involved in some of the routines. I wasn't sure about the whole having 2 vocalists thing at first but after watching them perform, I think it works rather well. I also love how they tend to do the light/dark thing with their costumes between the two of them. Though I will admit I got the most excited over seeing Aya and Seek. I can't help it. My love for PLC will never die. And so glad to see that Seek still wears crazy bizarre costumes. I mean he had tentacles on! <3~! But yeah, overall the band was so insanely cute and fun. I'm just sad there wasn't a huge turnout for the concert. I mean, yeah, it made it easier to be reasonably close but I think they deserved a bigger crowd. At least everyone there seemed to get really into the band. The dances were a lot easier to learn than PLC's so I was able to catch on pretty quick. Though I did feel bad for the folks who got the VIP badges 'cause I kinda felt like it wasn't necessary for this concert. I was like right behind them and I didn't get into line until about 10 minutes before the doors opened. And I'm not sure what the VIP cost was but I know PLC's was like $50 or $60? (and we got our own section barricaded just for us as I recall) But hey, they did get some pretty nifty looking badges and none of them seemed upset by this.
It was kinda a surreal experience though. Being an older J-Rock fan seeing the younger generation. I did feel old. lol It was very nostalgic watching the teenage girls and remembering when I was like that. And there was a girl who was next to me in line who had never seen a J-Rock band before and had only recently started going to cons so I told her about the bands and what to expect. And she seemed to really like them. Before the concert started, we were talking about how the con had low attendance this year and how its most likely because of Sandy and all and she mentioned that she actually lost two friends because of the storm and had just attended their funeral. And that they were supposed to be at this con originally and were looking forward to it. So that made me feel really sad but was glad to see she still went and was enjoying the con for them. I felt really bad for accidentally bringing up bad memories though but she seemed to take it pretty well. But anyways, I hope she did enjoy it. She was shorter than me so I kept trying to let her in on any good spot that opened up in front of me. I mean I've been to plenty of lives so I felt I should give someone new a chance for the experience. And she got the hang of the para para too so was fun to have someone to do it with. Did have one girl show up rather late into the concert, in full YuGiOh cosplay, and kinda pushed herself in front of us, which we were kinda annoyed with. I even accidentally hit her duel disc a few times when doing the para para. Just not a good idea to wear something like that if you're going to try to be near the front. Though...met her again later and found out she was a hardcore PLC fan like me and closer to my age. She just didn't time things right and ended up still in costume. So I can forgive that but at the time I was rather annoyed as I lost my good spot. XD
Near the end, I got a tap on my shoulder and turned to see...Ling. XD I forgot she was a PLC fan too. She only came in about halfway through but she admitted that she too was very impressed with the band and surprised how similar and fun they were. At the end of the concert, the crowd did the typical "EN-CO-RE!" bit and I wasn't sure if they actually would do one or not. They DID come back out but it was obvious they weren't really expecting to do an encore so they just did a repeat of ONESTAR, which made the most sense 'cause I certainly enjoyed doing the dance number again and at least that way they don't have to get their instruments set up again. lol And it was cute how they were all "Just one. Just one more." And the crowd was like "Noooo two? Pleeeaaaase?" and Seek was like "1...2...3...5?" XD
This is ONESTAR which is so far the only song I remember them performing that I've been able to identify. XD But I do plan to get to know more of their music now. But these are also the costumes they wore at the concert.
So yeah, was a pretty good end to the day. Went back to the room, packed stuff up, and laid in bed. Alyce had come back before the rest of the group so chatted with her for a bit as everyone else gradually stumbled in, with two extra people and yet Beth and I got the bed to ourselves somehow. Whih was awesome. XD Got to stretch out more. But man I must have just passed out because I don't remember some of them coming into the room and usually I wake up whenever there is movement or sound. o_o I guess I was just that tired.
Sunday:
Didn't do any cosplay again. Haven't really done much Sun cosplay these days. I dunno. Haven't been in the mood for a while and even when I do bring something to wear Sun, I often find myself not wearing it in the end. Though I did put on my Avengers vest to be at least somewhat snazzy. And once again did get a number of compliments on it, which made me happy. Usually its guys who want to know where I got the fabric or if I'd make them one 'cause they have vest obsession. lol I guess they're becoming an "in" thing now. I'm totally cool with this though I have no desire to really make them for other folks. Right now at least. This may change but probably not until after I pick up commissions again. Right now enjoying my break from it. But I do have a lot of ideas for other snazzy geeky vests for myself.
We made one final round of the Dealer's/Artist's and while there, I decided "oh why not" and went over to the booth for Mix Speaker's, just to see what they had. And the girl there swore she had talked to me the previous day 'cause she recognized my PLC bag and was all "yeah, you came over and Harry spazzed out about seeing the bag because its been years since we've seen one" and I'm like "O_o I didn't come over to the booth at all and I think I would remember him doing that." (Also lulz at Harry still being around.) I kept trying to tell her that there must have been another girl with the bag 'cause I mean, I'm sure other old school PLC fans came out for the band but she was so convinced, thinking that it was unlikely for another person to have one. Which is just...I dunno, weird. 'Cause I know I'm not the only one that still has the bag. Most people probably don't use it as much as I do but I could see them bringing it back out just for this. Can't help but wonder if it was someone I knew too. XD But anyways, talked to her a little and she mentioned that the autographs were going to be happening in about a half hour. Which surprised me as I figured it would have been at a bad time for me and I was like "oh...maybe I should go do that after all". But wasn't sure how long it'd take to get my stuff out and if we were going to leave soon. Welp, didn't take us long at all to check out and we had a few people stay with our luggage and take turns so others could go wander. Though there wasn't much left to do but they all said they were fine with me going to it so yay! XD Went over to the area and was kinda surprised how easy and fast the whole thing went. I'm used to having to line up for these things way in advance and all. But I was able to just buy a photoset right there, get in the back of the line and it didn't take long at all to get my turn.
While in line, I ended up next to the girl that was in the Yu-Gi-Oh cosplay at the concert I mentioned earlier. Felt kinda bad about being all angry at her previously when I found out she was an old school fan like me. A little younger than me still but had been into the scene about the same amount of time and was also a big PLC fan that didn't know a lot about MSI so we kinda bonded over this. So glad I had someone closer to my age to wait with because it was a little awkward at first realizing everyone else was a lot younger. Especially overhearing a conversation where one girl mentioned she wasn't even born yet when her favorite bands started. ...which made me feel soooo old. Haha! But anyways, couldn't help but feel a bit giddy when it did get to my turn with the band. PLC's management never allowed for autographs so I never did get any of the members' autographs before. Only a picture with them. So it was really nice having a more intimate moment with them. 'Cause the all shook my hand and took a moment to smile and say "thank you". Annnd I totally forgot they do the hand shake thing. XD Been a while and of all the autographs I've done, only Versailles and NOIZ did that. So I kept forgetting to have my hand free so they could do that 'cause I was also trying to balance the photos and not smear the the wet ink. But ahhh they were all so adorable up close. They were wearing matching tuxedos with little bow ties. XD But yeah, super glad I decided to get their autographs after all.
After that, went over to our pile of stuff where most of the gang was already hanging out. Alyce, Beth, and Barbara had already finished getting photos of them in their PowerPuff Girls cosplays, which I made sure to snag a photo of real quick before we left...

Then we packed up Tom's car...

XD
And Alyce and Tom took off while the rest of us headed over to metro. The only downside about having Alyce in the car with Tom was that we didn't have all 3 PowerPuff Girls on metro 'cause we agreed it'd be fun to have photos of them on it. But Beth and Barbara decided it'd be a great idea to do the adventures of Bubbles and Buttercup trying to deal with public transportation without Blossom. XD And I'm glad we decided to do that because the trip back ended up being...A LOT longer than the trip to the con on Friday, due to construction on the tracks. We actually did get a train pretty soon when we got into the station...but it was pretty crowded and the lights of the cars in front of us were turned off so it would have been too hard to get photos so I decided we should just wait for the next one. Yes, all for the sake of silly photos. XD Though the next train...we had to get off after just a few stops as it was going in for maintenance. Pffft. So had to switch trains and stuff. And had a lot of sitting in tunnels. Typical metro weekend hassles.
But we got cute photos out of it! All of these were taken by me with Barbara's phone.

"Where's Blossom?! T_T"

"Blossom? Are you in there?!"

"Is it here yet?"

"There are a lot of squiggly lines...what do they mean?!"
Tom and Alyce definitely beat us back to my house. XD But my parents enjoyed chatting with them while they waited. Then said goodbye to everyone and they drove back to PA.
